For most of the week, I had been working on processing photos and writing the story on my blog about my Alaska trip plus catching up on things around the house. I finally went out to do some local birding for the first time since returning when I got the news that several White-rumped Sandpipers were at Green Pond. I went over there and saw 7 White-rumped Sandpipers in a diminishing pool of water in the flooded field area.
Also in that shrinking pool were 6 Semipalmated Sandpipers and 4 Semipalmated Plovers.
Over at Green Pond itself were 2 Green Herons, a Great Blue Heron, and a Warbling Vireo.
I checked the Hollo Road retention pond, which held one Semipalmated Sandpiper.
