Birding Plainfield and Bushkill Township and the Nazareth Quarry ~ February 21, 2024

I scoped out the Grand Central landfill hoping to find a Glaucous Gull, which have been almost non-existent this year. I struck out again with two Iceland Gulls (an adult and a first-winter bird) and two Great Black-backed Gulls being the best finds.
One Black Vulture circled low overhead.
The Albert Road ponds held 8 Ring-necked Ducks, 4 Common Mergansers, 2 Hooded Mergansers, and 2 Ring-billed Gulls.

Over at nearby Ballas Park, 3 American Tree Sparrows and 8 Red-winged Blackbirds were present while a Northern Harrier hunted the field.

At the Nazareth Quarry there were 31 Ruddy Ducks, 13 Buffleheads, 5 Gadwall, 5 American Black Ducks, 2 Pied-billed Grebes, a pair of Northern Shovelers, and a pair of Bald Eagles that circled overhead.

A Killdeer was at the Hollo Road retention pond.
