American Woodcocks at the Melchor Tract Park ~ March 10, 2025

I did a late morning walk at Housenick Park. Highights seen there included Field Sparrow, Pileated Woodpecker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

Another interesting sighting was two mixed skeins of geese, part Canada and part Snow Geese.
A Fox Sparrow and a Winter Wren were the other birds of note.
I stopped at Green Pond to see what might be there. Along the treeline by the golf course, I spotted an American Tree Sparrow among 14 Dark-eyed Juncos. It was only the second Tree Sparrow I had ever seen at Green Pond.
An American Black Duck was with Mallards on the wooded pond next to the house at the intersection.

Also seen there were 2 Snow Geese, a Great Blue Heron, a Common Raven, 3 Eastern Bluebirds, 6 American Robins, and 4 Red-winged Blackbirds.
I went home, had dinner, and then headed for the Melchor Tract Park to see if there were any American Woodcocks displaying. Before sunset, I saw several skeins of Canada Geese heading north, 46 Red-winged Blackbirds, and 3 Eastern Bluebirds.
Finally near dark, I saw two silhouetted American Woodcocks flying around and one strutting around in one of the grassy paths. I took this blurry photo of it at 1/5 of a second at ISO-10,000.
