A Poor Weather Fallout Includes White-winged Scoter ~ May 5, 2024

I got a text that Adam Miller had found a male White-winged Scoter at Echo Lake. When I got there, Mike and Corinne Schall were looking at it in the light rain. I took some fairly good photos of it, considering it was pretty far out and raining at the time.

Nearby Lake Minsi and the Martins Creek Environmental Preserve pond held nothing out of the ordinary, so I drove towards home and checked out the Hollo Road pond, which held two male Northern Shovelers.
The flooded field near the Christian Springs Road pond held a bunch of shorebirds that included 5 Greater and 9 Lesser Yellowlegs, 5 Solitary Sandpipers, and 6 Least Sandpipers.

Green Pond held a larger group of shorebirds, including an impressive number of 48 Lesser Yellowlegs. The list also included 6 Greater Yellowlegs, 17 Solitary Sandpipers, 24 Least Sandpipers, 2 Spotted Sandpipers, a Killdeer, and a Semipalmated Plover.
