I got a call from Adam Miller saying that he was pretty sure he was looking at White-rumped Sandpipers. He was at the flooded field along Steuben Road at the Monocacy Creek. I wasn't able to get over there for about an hour but easily found his four White-rumpeds among some Leasts. After a while, two of them came much closer and I got some pretty good photos of the one showing the longish wings, streaked flanks, black legs, and orange-red base of the bill.
This is a very early date for this species, which usually shows up from mid-May into early June. Also present were Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Solitary and Least Sandpiper, plus a Yellow Warbler.
