I continue to periodically go back to the Regency Boulevard ponds to check for shorebird turnover. In addition to the continuing movement of Bank Swallows, shorebirds in the north pond included a Semipalmated Plover, 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, 4 Least Sandpipers, and 4 Spotted Sandpipers, plus the long-staying Pied-billed Grebe.
The next stop was at the West Gremar retention pond, which held 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, and a Least Sandpiper among 11 Killdeer. Unfortunately, one of the Lesser Yellowlegs was hopping around on its left leg because it had a broken outer toe on its right foot.
The Hollo Road retention pond produced 13 Least Sandpipers, 4 Lesser Yellowlegs, and a solitary Solitary Sandpiper. A tip from a birding friend sent me to a new retention pond along Padula Road in Forks Township. There, I found 5 Spotted Sandpipers, 4 Least Sandpipers, and one Solitary Sandpiper among 8 Killdeer, but the best bird there was an American Kestrel perched on a wire along the road.
