I made my late day check of Green Pond and found an impressive number of shorebirds. I saw a personal record number of 52 Solitary Sandpipers spread throughout the flooded fields. There were probably more than that, but they often like to feed in among the stubble and blend in well with that habitat. Counts of the other shorebirds included 23 Lesser and 4 Greater Yellowlegs, 21 Least and 2 Spotted Sandpipers, and 4 Killdeer. Waterfowl included 3 Wood Ducks, 2 Blue-winged Teal, an American Black Duck, and the continuing Bufflehead.
A Northern Waterthrush and Yellow and Yellow-rumped Warblers were at the pond beside the house, and a Great Egret was at Green Pond itself.
