I led a bird walk at Housenick Park for the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society. Thirteen participants got to see some surprises among the 52 species. In addition to Common Merganser, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Belted Kingfisher, Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Northern House Wren, Gray Catbird, Brown Thrasher, Eastern Bluebird, American Goldfinch, Field, Swamp, Savannah, and White-throated Sparrows, Eastern Towhee, Baltimore and Orchard Oriole, Northern Waterthrush, Northern Yellow Warbler, and Common Yellowthroat, there was a Marsh Wren and a Hooded Warbler!
I stopped at Green Pond on the way back home and had 40 continuing Snow Geese, Chimney Swift, Spotted Sandpiper, Greater Yellowlegs, Great Blue Heron, Black Vulture, a Bank Swallow among Tree, Barn, and Northern Rough-winged Swallows, Northern House Wren, Gray Catbird, and White-throated Sparrow.
