Adak Island, Alaska Trip ~ May 30, 2025

We began our last full day of birding by checking Frank's Seal Drive feeder. One of the Hawfinches was there again.

A check of the "Landing Lights" and Sweeper Cove didn't reveal anything different, but I managed to get my closest photo of a Marbled Murrelet at the small boat harbor.
In the afternoon, we did the long, horseshoe-shaped route around Clam Lagoon. I got photos of a Eurasian Wigeon in the lagoon and a Pacific Loon that was offshore along "The Seawall".

Sea Otters, some with pups, were floating around in the lagoon as they had all week.

Our next stop was at the Airport Creek mouth where a distant Red-necked Stint was feeding along the shoreline with a group of Rock Sandpipers. Throughout the day, we stopped at each feeder area and put them in the back of the car, so we wouldn't have to do it the day of our flight. Little did we know that it would later turn out to be a very good move.

While eating dinner at the house, Frank's backyard held 3 Hawfinches. Since it was the last night there, I took a bunch of photos of the birds even though it was through the window.

As was the case yesterday, nothing different was found, so the trip list stayed at 58 species. I had been hoping all week for a Far Eastern Curlew, an Eyebrowed Thrush, or something similar to show up, but I remained 'life birdless' with only a half-day of birding left on the island.
