I got a text from Adam Miller stating that he had a Baird's Sandpiper at the West Gremar Road retention pond. This pond is at the newly-named Newburg Park. When I got there, the bird was nowhere in sight. Adam was still there and joined me. We were there a while when the six Least Sandpipers flew up and headed off to the east. With them was a noticeably larger bird with longer wings and a buff-colored breast. It was the Baird's! The group continued off to the east and out of sight. A little while later, the six Leasts returned but, unfortunately, the Baird's wasn't with them. An American Black Duck, a Great Egret, 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, a Spotted Sandpiper, 5 Killdeer, 3 Eastern Kingbirds, and two Horned Larks were also present.
I headed over to the Hollo Road retention pond to see if the Baird's might have dropped in there. All that was there were a few Mallards and Killdeer.
From there, I checked the Newburg Road retention ponds. The Killdeer count from around the pond and in the adjacent large, grassy field had grown from 23 yesterday to 27 today.
The edge of the pond also held a Semipalmated Plover.
