Mink and Marsh Wren in Northampton County ~ April 23, 2020

I took a walk at East Bangor Dam looking for a Marsh Wren, a bird I'd never seen in the county. It was sleeting as I checked the cattails along the railroad tracks, only coming up with Swamp Sparrow. I walked farther west to where the woods begin on the north side of the tracks and was surprised when I saw a Mink running towards me. It stopped, looked around, looked at me, and then hopped into the water and swam past me.

I continued on down past the bend in the tracks and then turned around and headed back. As I reached the patches of cattails, I actually heard a Marsh Wren calling right next to the tracks. It occasionally sang but always stayed low, allowing me only to get glimpses of it through the stalks. After waiting for about an hour, I managed to get a few partial-bird photos of it.
