I spent the afternoon checking out the local ponds. The Tatamy Exit retention pond held 11 Killdeer, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 13 Least Sandpipers, and 3 Pectoral Sandpipers.
The Lesser Yellowlegs with the injured right leg was there. It was originally seen here on August 25th. I know it can fly because I saw it about a mile away at the Hollo Road retention pond on August 26th, but it has since returned to this location.
The Hollo Road pond held 6 Green-winged Teal and 4 Killdeer.
The Newburg Road retention pond produced my first American Black Duck of the season in addition to a Green Heron and a Great Blue Heron, plus a couple Killdeer among 250 Canada Geese.
Birds at Green Pond included 2 Great Egrets at the pond and 7 Green Herons at the two ponds along the paved walkway.
