Checking the Ponds Again ~ September 11, 2025

I went over to the Regency ponds to see if the Eared Grebe was still there. I spent a good amount of time looking for it, but I couldn't find it. Birds that were there included 3 Wood Ducks, 3 Green Herons, a Spotted Sandpiper, and a Killdeer.
The Hollo Road pond produced my first four Green-winged Teal of the season, a Lesser Yellowlegs, and a Great Blue Heron.

The Tatamy Exit retention pond held 3 Greater and 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, a Pectoral Sandpiper, and 2 Savannah Sparrows.

Here are two photos showing the comparison between Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs.

The Newburg Road retention pond held nothing of note, but the parking lot and the surrounding area by the hospital held 29 Killdeer. Here's ten of them hanging together.
At Green Pond, there were 3 Great Egrets around its edge. I walked the paved path to search the two back ponds, which held 3 Green Herons and a Great Blue Heron, but the highlight of the day were 7 Common Nighthawks that were zooming around over the ponds. I got some pretty nice photos of them.
