After my early afternoon dentist appointment, I stopped at the Tatamy Exit retention pond. Last night's thunderstorms had filled up the pond, changing it from a mudflat with some tiny remaining puddles to full of water with limited shoreline edges. The one muddy corner held a Semipalmated Plover, a Lesser Yellowlegs, and 8 Least Sandpipers.
The nearby Hollo Road retention pond was also very full, so it only held Canada Geese and Mallards. It was the same with the Newburg Road retention pond, but there were 15 Killdeer in the grassy field behind the hospital.
Over at Green Pond, I walked the paved path to check out the two back ponds. The back middle pond continued to hold a nice total of 11 Green Herons. Other birds seen there included 2 Spotted Sandpipers, a Sharp-shinned Hawk, 2 Eastern Kingbirds, 2 Bank Swallows, 6 Tree Swallows, and 4 Northern Rough-winged Swallows.
Three Great Egrets were perched along the edge of Green Pond.
