I spent the early morning near the Grand Central landfill in Plainfield Township. It was a "blue morning", which sounds bad, but it was actually a really good one. While there, I saw three 'blue bird' species: Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, and Eastern Bluebird. Surprisingly, I did not see a Blue Jay. I got some nice photos of a Blue Grosbeak pair.
I also got some fairly good photos of a singing Indigo Bunting.
Numbers of Eastern Bluebirds, including young birds, were present.
There were some other interesting birds there that were not blue. A pair of Orchard Orioles were pretty cooperative.
'Fly-by' birds included Black Vultures, Common Ravens, and an immature Bald Eagle.
