A Run Through Upper Mount Bethel Township ~ May 8, 2021

I decided to do a route through Upper Mount Bethel Township today. My first stop was at Lake Minsi where I got to see a Bald Eagle chase an Osprey to try to steal its fish. The chase lasted for about a minute. The eagle eventually gave up after the Osprey continued to outmaneuver it.

Other birds noted there were Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Kingbird, Common Raven, Purple Martin, and Pied-billed Grebe.

A stop at the Totts Gap Conservation Area was well worth it. In addition to the active Osprey nest, I saw 2 Common Nighthawks, 3 Eastern Kingbirds, a Brown Thrasher, 4 Eastern Bluebirds, 6 Bobolinks, 3 Eastern Meadowlarks, and a Merlin that was chased by 6 Barn Swallows.
