Nazareth Quarry Continues to Impress ~ March 2, 2026

I made my afternoon run to the Nazareth Quarry. At least 35,000 Snow Geese filled most of the quarry, similar to a couple days ago.
Ryan Johnson and Paul Nale were there when I arrived. Ryan picked out a Greater White-fronted Goose in among the Snow Geese. Later, he found a Ross's Goose in the masses. We could only find one of the White-winged Scoters, the adult male. The nice variety of waterfowl there included 4 Northern Shovelers, 7 Gadwall, 8 American Wigeon, 2 Mallards, 10 American Black Ducks, 2 Northern Pintails, 2 Redheads, 6 Ring-necked Ducks, 3 Lesser Scaup, 8 Buffleheads, 16 Common Mergansers, a Hooded Merganser, a Red-breasted Merganser, around 30 Ruddy Ducks, 20 American Coots, a Pied-billed Grebe, plus around 1500 Canada Geese.
