Philadelphia Vireo at Jacobsburg State Park ~ May 4, 2020
For most of the last four decades, I worked an afternoon shift. Since my shift often ended in the early morning hours, I was rarely able to wake up early enough to bird during the prime early morning hours. Now retired, I was actually able to get out and bird early on most days, allowing me to see more of the migration than I had in a long time. On May 4th, I walked the trails at Jacobsburg State Park and ran into a group of vireos that included several Blue-headeds, three Red-eyeds, and a Philadelphia Vireo, an unusual find during Spring. I managed to get some photos of the bird before it moved out of sight.
