While going through the filing cabinet of old records of bird sightings, I came across an old slide of a Snowy Owl taken by my dad, Bob DeReamus, back in 1965! It shows an immature Snowy Owl perched on an antenna on a house along Main Street in Tatamy, Northampton County on January 3, 1965. The house was four houses down from our house. My friend, Ron Wagner, lived in the house next door to it. I remember both of us climbing the stairs into the attic of his house and watching the bird through the attic window. It played a major part in both of us getting interested in birding. This is a scanned copy of that old slide.
Note: This blog post was written on February 20, 2020. In order to keep the sighting date in chronological order, I have dated it for 1970 because that's the earliest date that is allowed here for blog posts. It will not let me use 1965 as the posting date. I can't understand why since it was ONLY 55 years ago!
